Your Style Guide to the Summer!

The name of the game at Camp Empire Lake is comfort. Please pack clothes you will feel comfortable running, playing and most of all getting a bit dirty in. Remember the temperature drops in the evenings in Vermont, so have some warm sweaters and a good sleeping bag or blanket to snuggle into at night. This is not the summer to bring your new designer sweat suit or your hottest running shoes. For every item you pack, ask yourself, "Can I survive if this is either lost, broken or ruined during the summer?" If the answer is "no", don't pack it!

Don't forget- your laundry will be done once a week. Please limit your packing to one trunk and one duffel bag (or two suitcases) only!

Suggested Clothing:

• 12 t-shirts or tank tops
• 2 long sleeve shirts
• 2 sweatshirts
• 6 pairs of shorts
• 2 pairs of pants or jeans
• 2 bathing suits
• 12 pairs of underwear
• 2 pairs of pajamas
• 12 pairs of socks
• 1 hat
• 1 raincoat
• 2 pairs of running shoes (include one old pair you can get muddy or wet)
• 1 pair sandals
• 2 shower towels
• 2 beach towels
• 2 laundry bags with campers name on them
• 1 fabulous dress, skirt or other ensemble for girls to wear at the camp prom at the end of the summer (be prepared- it will be loose fitting by them!)
• 1 button up shirt and khakis or other stylish dance-wear for boys

Toiletries: (Teenage girls- we know many of you will go well beyond this list! Try to limit your hair products to less than 10!)

• Soap and shampoo/conditioner and comb or hairbrush
• Toothbrush & toothpaste & mouthwash
• Comb and/or brush
• Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
• Deodorant!
• Gold Bond

Bedding:

• 1 or 2 Pillows & pillowcases
• Sleeping bag
• Blanket (other bedding as desired)
• Egg Carton for bed if you’d like as well
• Remember to bring a bed sheet that can double for your costume at our Toga Party!

Equipment:

• Flashlight and batteries
• Bug spray
• Sports Equipment (optional, but recommended if you intend to pursue that interest frequently)
• Baseball/Softball glove
• Cleats
• Hiking Boots
• Tennis Racket
• Fishing Pole
• Paintball Gun (to be kept in the Paintball shack)
• Water bottle (a must!)

Optional Articles:

• Journal (highly recommended!)
• Writing supplies (pen/ stationery/ stamps)
• Address Book
• Camera (and film if not digital, or disposable)
• Ipod/ CD player/ Boom Box (you will be the most popular kid in the cabin!)
• Lots of Batteries for your boom box, camera or other devices
• Musical instruments-bring anything you can play for bonfires, talent shows etc!
• Funny Costumes for dances and evening activities (Halloween Dance, 80’s Dance, etc)
• Portable DVD player or video gaming device (use will be closely monitored and limited by your counselors)
• Fan
• Sunglasses
• 1 or 2 summer reading books for rest hour, before bed, and reading club.
• Cards or your favorite Board Game (Fitzy has Taboo already packed!)
  

Do Not Bring:

• Cell phones
• Any food items
• Knives or weapons of any kind (including Swiss army knives)
• Drugs or Alcohol (you will immediately be asked to leave camp)
